Human Rights and Health in the UK
The UK PHM circle, in collaboration with Medact and Doctors for Human Rights, has been compiling a report on human rights and health in the UK. The report will serve as a submission to the UN Committee on Social, Economic and Cultural Rights which is due to scrutinise the performance of the UK in respect of these rights in 2009.--> As usual, the government of the UK presents a report to the Committee, and civil society groups, like us, can comment on the Government's submission, and present a different perspective.
We are grateful for the contribution of several NGOs to our report. Currently, the topics included are:
- The War in Iraq
- Migrants and Asylum Seekers
- Mental Health
- The health of Older People
- Marternity Care
- Human Rights Education
We plan to include chapters on Detention and Health Systems. We would be happy to receive documentation on these subjects to include in our report. For further information, please email: phmukcoordinator@yahoo.co.uk
