The Mumbai Declaration

The participants gathered at the III International Forum for the Defence of the People’s Health held in Mumbai on 14th and 15th of January 2004, debated and explored ways to counter the increasing and serious threats to health in the early 21st century. The Mumbai Declaration is a consensus outcome of the complex response that today’s health challenges pose.

The People's Charter on HIV and AIDS

The HIV/AIDS pandemic is one of the greatest humanitarian crises of all times. It has caused death and misery, destroyed families and communities and ravaged entire populations. Africa's experience shows that HIV/AIDS, in a single
stroke, can destroy development gains of several decades as well as the social fabric of the community A similar tragedy is unfolding in other parts of the world. Spreading along migration routes related to globalization, poverty, war and conflict, HIV/AIDS is now associated with the resurgence of other communicable diseases of poverty such as tuberculosis.

The Cuenca Declaration

Coming from 82 countries around the world, 1492 people met at the Second People's Health Assembly in Cuenca, Ecuador from 17th to 22nd July 2005, to analyse global health problems and to develop strategies to promote Health for all. The Cuenca Declaration builds on the People's Charter for Health (2000) and saw it as a rallying document for the ongoing struggles of the People's Health Movement globally and within countries.
