India: Launching the Global Health Watch 2

16 October 2008, St. John's Medical College, Bangalore, India

Prof. Ron Labonte, Canada did the honours. The session was inaugurated by the Director of St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences. There were around 150 participants (30 - 40 medical students and some staff and a number of NGOs and some social activists from Bangalore). There were also participants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran and other parts of India who were participating in the first Teasdale Corti Asian Research Training Workshop.

The launch was followed by a public lecture by Prof. Labonte on Globalisation and the Social Determinants of Health with subsequent inputs by Dr. Heidari from Iran, Dr. Parvez Nayani from Pakistan and Dr. Anwar Islam from Bangladesh. This was followed by a fairly active discussion.
