PHM Brazil: Workshop: “People’s Health Movement – Tools for Distance Education on Activists Training

On November 11th of 2013, PHM activists organized the workshop: “People’s Health Movement – Tools for Distance Education on Activists Training” during the World Forum on Human Rights in Brasília, Brazil. This workshop was an opportunity to present PHM’s history, values and struggles to more than twenty people from all over South America, in a relaxed talk about health activism experiences, leading to high interest between the participants.

PHM India: Medical Council India hand in glove with pharma companies

Ravi Duggal, advocate and health care activist speaks to dna on Medical Council of India's bizarre decision to keep doctor bodies out of medical code of ethics. Duggal who is part of the People's Health Movement, said that the MCI decision will lead to widespread corruption and have a negative impact on India's healthcare system.

The word ‘austerity’ has recently gained prominence. It is used to describe a wide range of cuts to public spending across services including welfare support, education, health and social care. What is often overlooked is how ‘austerity’ is a deliberate policy by the government to redistribute resources from the poor to the rich through bailout of banks, corporate tax evasion and private finance initiatives.

PHM Sri Lanka: Symposium on religious reconciliation for Peace

The Peoples’ Health Movement (PHM) and Womens’ Action for Social Justice jointly held the above Symposium on Thursday, 13 February 2014 in Colombo. It was very well attended and carried on in a successful manner.

It was explained why we thought of holding such a Seminar and informed that Sri Lanka is presently undergoing disturbances for religious harmony. It was informed that we, belonging to a Movement working for Peace, it is of utmost importance that we intervene in this situation.
