Self-organized workshops

SELF ORGANISED ACTIVITIES

The structure of the PHA3 program will provide a space for self-organized activities. In the afternoons of the PHA3, organizations and networks are offered the opportunity to organize a workshop/session. Partner organizations/networks are invited to submit proposals.

Proposed themes for such sessions, will have to be in sync with the broad objectives of PHM and of PHA3. Activities can include cultural presentations, testimonies, etc. or a combination of different formats.

Objectives of PHA3:

  • To increase the capacity of health civil society activists to engage with and intervene in the policy making process, to monitor and drive policy implementation and to ensure accountability in the functioning of health systems;
  • To create opportunities for constructive dialogue, planning and mobilization around health and the broader social determinants of health, involving a broad range of stakeholders; and
  • To create sustainable structures and dynamics, both within and outside the health sector, that will continue to drive coordinated action to secure universal and equitable access to health and health care.
  • To strengthen and build a global People’s Health Movement by reflecting on activities and progress and to plan and consolidate future programmes and activities of PHM ensuring these are reflective of needs (progressing our own flagship projects)

Principles for self organised activities

Self organised activities should conform to the Peoples Health Charter (in terms of broad positions/objectives proposed in the activity).

  • Each activity will be for 2 hours. Organisations can propose, upto a maximum of 4 activities, which can run in sequence or in parallel.
  • Multiple organisations can join together to propose an activity.
  • Proposals can ask for varying sizes of venue – ranging from those that accommodate 50 people to those that accommodate 200 people.
  • Proposers of self organised activities will be asked to contribute to the costs of the PHA3 in two ways:

a) by making a contribution to the infrastructure costs;

b) by supporting the participation of delegates in PHA3.
