Building PHM in Scotland

You are invited to participate in a big discussion on how we can join forces and build a People's Health Movement (PHM) in Scotland mobilised around social, political and economic issues affecting health, with equity and justice at its heart. The current attack on these principles within the NHS and the welfare system in England and similar trends in Scotland have added urgency to mobilising around such a movement.

In preparation for the Steering Council meeting taking place 27-28 January 2013, Bangkok, Thailand, regional representatives prepared reports on activities that took place within their region since PHA3.

A summary has been developed which was presented during the SC meeting.

We have organised a panel discussion with almost twenty representatives from five continents of the PHM with which INSEV has long been collaborating to build the Turkey Circle.

 

“To promote the spirit of Alma Ata, conditions are better than ever”

The 30th anniversary of the 1978 Alma Ata Declaration was marked by a celebration in Brussels on October 17, 2008. During the program, two PHM activists were interviewed on the significance of Alma Ata and the way forward in the struggle for the right to health. Here are some excerpts from this interview with Arturo Quizhpe from Ecuador and Wim De Ceukelaire from Belgium.

What do you remember from Alma Ata and how did you learn about it?
