Q. How do I register?

Q. How do I get to Ecuador? How much will it cost?

Airfare differs widely depending on airline and route adopted so time spent shopping for cheap options is likely to be fruitful. We recommend that participants from the south use southern routes or fly directly to South America from European airports. For more on travel and visa go to the travel info section.

Q. Once I get to Ecuador how do I get to Cuenca? How much will it cost?

DO NOT make internal travel arrangements. The PHA2 secretariat will make the internal travel arrangements and meet you at the airport. The buses from Guayaquil run for about 4 hours daytime only. The buses from Quito over 10 hours, not recommended for international travelers. It will cost about $100.00 US. Airfare round trip between Quito and Cuenca will cost around US $100.00.

Q. How can I get scholarships and grants?

Unfortunately, the secretariat will not be making grants and travel scholarships available. You will have to make your own arrangements. This can be best done by contacting the regional PHM contact persons.

Q. How much will registration cost?

The registration fees, including conference bag and materials are as follows:
$25.00 for individuals from developing countries
$50.00 for individuals from developed countries
$100 for institutions

Q. Where can I stay in Cuenca and how much will food cost?

Along with the registration fee $25.00 will be collected for lunch and coffee breaks for the five days.
Accommodations and dinner at a hostel or hotel could run anywhere from $2.00 to $100 per day. We recommend the places that run around $12 to $15 US per day including breakfast. Dinner costs are no more than $3.00 US per day. The range is rather big and most places will actually cost around $12 -$15 per day with breakfast.

Q. What kind of clothes should I pack for Cuenca?

Ceunca is reputed to have all four seasons in one day. Right now it is very cold and all travellers are advised to carry plenty of warm clothing and some rain gear. It is too cold for open sandals or open-toed shoes. Women delegates who are packing dresses/skirts/sarees/sarongs must consider pantyhose or alternatives like tights.
